Please note that the Town of Franklinton NO longer provides water and sewer services. Please contact Franklin County Public Utilities at 919-496-6565 for your water and sewer questions or concerns.

Our Public Works staff diligently manages the daily maintenance and upkeep of Franklinton within the town's corporate limits. Franklinton offers

services such as waste disposal, recycling, and brush and leaf pickup throughout the year. We also offer regulated bulk item pickup all to help residents keep their homes and yards attractive and clutter-free. The Public Works Department picks up leaves starting on Mondays and brush on Thursdays. We ask that you please have your brush out by the road Wednesday night to ensure that it gets picked up.

Important Reminders
*All grass clippings and leaves MUST be placed in bags from March through October.

*Any work that is done by a contractor that produces brush or any waste/debris MUST be disposed of by the contractor at the residents expense.

*Please call 919-494-2520 to schedule your bulk item pick-ups.

Garbage & Recycling Services
The Town of Franklinton provides trash, recycling, bulk item pickup, and yard waste removal at no charge to its residents that are located within the corporate limits of the Town of Franklinton. The Town encourages residents to apply for service prior to moving into your residence so GFL can get your containers to you within a reasonable timeframe. Regular Garbage Service
The Town contracts with GFL to provide trash and recycling services. Town residents scheduled service day is Friday's with recycling service every other Friday depending on your address. Please see recycling map for your service week. We recommend having your trash cans out Thursday night as some routes start early.

Inclement Weather & Holidays 

At times there may be a delay in trash and recycling collection services due to inclement weather, mechanical issues, or holidays. In the event that you have placed your cart out for collection on Thursday night and it is not picked up on Friday please leave the cart out until Saturday to ensure that GFL has an opportunity to run the entire pickup route. If your cart has not been picked up by Monday please call or text Town Hall at 919-494-2520.  
 
The Following Holidays Could Affect Your Service Date:
Unless otherwise noted, service that falls on the holidays listed below will be completed the following day, and service for subsequent days in the same week will also be completed one day later.  

• New Years Day

• Thanksgiving

• Christmas

Yard Waste Services

The Town of Franklinton collects non-commercial yard waste/brush. If you hire a contractor to clean up your yard the contractor is responsible for hauling away the yard waste. Loose leaves do not need to be bagged starting at the beginning of October and running through the end of February. Starting at the beginning of March and running through the end of September leaves and smaller brush MUST be bagged to ensure pickup.

• Please ensure that all leaves and yard waste is free of trash or non-compostable material. 

• Yard debris is limited to 6 foot long and 6 inches in diameter. 

• Stumps will not be picked up.

• All yard debris must be placed in biodegradable/compostable bags

Bulk Waste Service
The Town of Franklinton also provides bulk waste pickup which includes any large items such as furniture, appliances, and other household items. These pickups must be scheduled in advance by calling Town Hall at 919-494-2520 or emailing drussell@franklintonnc.gov. Bulk item pickup typically occurs on Fridays so please ensure bulk items are placed out for collection by Thursday evening. Please take note of acceptable and non-acceptable items:

Acceptable:

• Small Furniture (desk, table, book shelves)

• Rugs

• Wooden Pallets

• Chairs

• Cardboard

Non-Acceptable Items

• Electronics (TV's, Computers, Microwaves, Copiers, etc..).

• Batteries

• Tires

• Any hazardous Materials (Paint, Oil, Gasoline, Other Chemical related items).

• Construction Material

• Remodeling Material

• Large appliances (refrigerators, freezers or any other appliances or any equipment that contains freon).

Additional Notes

• Any work that is done by a contractor that produces brush, yard waste, or any waste/debris MUST be disposed of by the contractor or resident at the residents expense.

• If your items are not acceptable for bulk pick-up the Town reserves the right to reject waste that is not properly prepared or placed.

• If non-acceptable items are not disposed of in a timely manner the Town has the right to issue a code violation to the resident.
