Public Works Technician – Part-Time

Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Hours: Seasonal Part-Time | Not to exceed 1,000 hours per year or 35 hours per week

Position Overview

The Town of Franklinton is seeking motivated, dependable, and hard-working individuals to join our Public Works Department as Part-Time Public Works Technicians. This position supports a wide range of manual labor and maintenance tasks critical to the upkeep and operation of town facilities and infrastructure. Ideal candidates are those who take pride in public service and can thrive in outdoor, physically demanding conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Grounds Maintenance: Weedeating, mowing, edging, mulching, and general landscaping duties across Town properties.

• Infrastructure Support: Patching streets, paving assistance, minor sidewalk repair, and other street-related tasks.

• Site Work & Earth Work: General site preparation and light grading tasks.

• Building Maintenance: Assisting in upkeep and minor repairs of Town facilities.

• Debris & Trash Removal: Clearing storm debris, litter, and materials from streets and public areas.

• Seasonal Support: Snow/ice removal and other tasks related to seasonal needs.

• Other Duties as Assigned: May assist in a variety of related functions across the Public Works Department based on departmental needs.

 

Working Conditions

• Environment: This position involves outdoor work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

• Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs routinely. The role requires standing, bending, lifting, pushing, and walking for extended periods.

 

Position Type & Conditions

• This is a part-time, seasonal, at-will position.

• The position does not include benefits.

• It may be discontinued at any time based on funding or operational changes.

• Weekly schedules may vary based on workload, weather, and department needs.
